This is the big shift that men will have to make to get past treating women like this...actually CONNECT with their emotions...feel them...and then discover WHY they feel that way...make the appropriate behavioral and paradigm shifts, and ultimately be happier in themselves! Perhaps more men will get to this point in another 100 years or so...

In the meantime we are treated to men's lack of emotional self-awareness on a sliding scale...from the worst of the worst with the Taliban, through to passive-aggressive behavior by an insecure spouse or partner in the West to try to box a person in. As long as more and more women worldwide retain or recover their personal rights (a legal body as opposed to a chattel, personal income, and personal property, hey, maybe evening savings)...then this change will slowly grind forward.

For someone like me (divorced twice, married for an elapsed time total of 30 years, aged 59 this year) it leaves me in a place where I am wondering why I would bother to date? I really am totally over being expected to launder and fold other people's underpants in my spare time.

I won't complain too much though, although I have every right to when women in Afghanistan can't even get educated, show their face in public or go to a restaurant.
